Has BT capped my broadband speed!

Cancelled broadband with BT and have a couple months left on contract. Suddenly, from exact day of cancellation, the speed has 'coincidentally' gone from 1 Mb to 128Kb.

They are acting all innocent saying nothing has changed, but it definitely has (performed my own broadband speed checks) and it is almost useless now!

Is there anything you can do! I'm still paying good money to them! It is definitely not a coincidence! Has this happened to anyone else? :mad:

  • That definitely sounds suspicious but I wouldn't expect it was done maliciously. It's more likely to be some side-effect of the cancellation process that has temporarily dropped your IP profile.

    Go to this site and run the test and let us know what it says (or better yet, post a screenshot of the results page).

    If your IP profile has simply been dropped to the base level of 128kb for some reason you should see it increase again if you can hold your router connection stable for 3 days.

    I work for BT and this is something that is purely coincidental. There may be a fault or an issue with your broadband or line. Goto the BT website, search faults or ring 0800 111 4567 option 1
