Employer not paying wages advice greatfully received

Hi All

I started a new job on 9 October 09 was due to get first monthly pay on the 30/10/09.

Employer has been avoiding me (i work in a different office from everyone else) he is not answering my calls and has not even acknowledged to me that ive not been paid.

He has had a meeting with other staff assuring them that all will be fine and we would of got paid before the 10/11/09 (10 days late). It is now 13/11/09 and he has no intentions of paying us today.

I have not had a contract or anyting yet. Where do I stand if I leave today - can I pursue him for whats owed to me??

Hope this makes sense?!

You do have a contract in that you have been given work to do and carried out that work. Your employer has broken his side of the contract by not paying you. You can certianly persue him via an ET for unpaid wages - the forms are online.

  • Thanks for taking the time to reply. He has said he will come into the office on TUes with pay at 10am. I will go in if hes not showed by 11 then ill leave.

I was just worried that if I left then I'd get nothing!!!
