does changing bt number effect broadband??

i have just changed my number with bt due to funny phonecalls:rolleyes:
(not funny to me though:o)
any way it has been changed today and my broadband is still worrking.
the problem is that i have just contacted bethere.co.uk to inform them of my number change and they say that my broadband could stop up to a month after the number change due to bts systems not updating, is this true? im concerned that im going to have to pay £24 to get it reconnected if they do, is there anyway to find out that its not going to get cut off?

I'm with Plusnet and I changed our house number last year.
