Bit puzzled - £500 Smyths Voucher

Hello all

My husband received a telephone call from BNRB (Birmingham Radio) to tell him that I had won the Smyths Voucher competition and to ask for my address details.:j

I checked back through the competitions and found the one that I had entered that was for £500 vouchers (very useful as I have a 13 year old and a new grandson aged 6 months!).

I was excited waiting for the post, until it came today......... for a £5 (yes £5 voucher off any toy!!!).

I have gone back onto the original competition site and there is no mention of any runner up prizes and whoever phoned my husband said I had won (no mention of it not being first prize).

Can this be right?? I really hope not, as I was all excited and myself and my daughter had been trawling Smyths site, picking out toys for my son and the baby.:o

Thank you

Carol

It does mention in the terms and conditions that there are 200 runner-up prizes of £5. I got a phone-call from BRBM today telling me I had won too.

Didn't the person on the phone tell you it was a runners up prize or anything like that?

Aaaaw never mind, hopefully there'll be a biggie just around the corner for you.

Poodle - the husband answered & they (well mine don't) tend not to ask questions.

LOL, I know what you are saying but usually when you get a WTC they make it very clear if you have won a main prize or not. I was just thinking that perhaps the people at BRMB could have made themselves a bit clearer.
Shame anyway. Fingers crossed that the OP gets a nice big win soon :T:T:T

That's a lot of phone calls they'll have had to make, lol!
  • Thank you all for your comments. Managing to see the funny side of it now, it'll teach me not to presume anything until I see it in black and white!!

Just going to have to try harder with the compeitions now.

I did see the post from the lady who the £500, but stupidly presumed that each radio station would have their "own" big winner. But having said that, after reading the post from the true winner, it looks like it went to a very deserving home and I hope her little girl enjoys every minute of her mums win.

I have a feeling that particular comp only ran on BRMB. Don't recall seeing it elsewhere.
Oh well, count yourself lucky. I entered that comp and I didn't even win the £5 voucher :D
Fingers crossed that you win something lovely soon :T
