new job not had start date

Hi my daughter recently went for a interview and and the day after was informed by phone that she was successfull and was offered the job. she was told that it would be a couple of weeks before she would start and they would inform personnel so that necessary forms etc could be sorted out, now it will be 3 weeks on friday and she hasnt heard anything since, last week she rang and asked to speak to the manager who offered her the job , but he wasnt available so she left her number and the receptionist said they would ask to see if he could ring her bak... but no phone call came>?
how long is it usually before you start a job after accepting it

Has she had the offer of job in writing and has she confirmed she has accepted in writing?

I'd be calling them again, saying she hasn't heard...letters have been known to go astray...she needs to ask them to confirm it all in writing.

TBH...if she has other interviews arranged or offered in the meantime...I'd still attend, just in case they have "changed their mind"...dunno about the legalities of it all but someone on here will advise on that.
