Halifax cancelling card!

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been mentioned recently already, but I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this as part of the financial fallout/recession ?
I'm not a credit card user, but have a Halifax platinum card that I use for booking flights etc on rare occasion. Anyway, last month I noticed I'd had my limit dropped from 2k down to 500 pounds without any notice. This week I've had a letter informing me that unless I use it within a month it will be cancelled AND I can forget about applying for a new one at a later date!!!
I don't care and don't really have an opinion either way just thought it a little obscure for a credit card company!!!

They are getting desperate, if they want to force customers to use their cards.
Really depends on how badly you'd like to keep the card, if you do then simply use it for things you would normally buy like petrol or food, then pay the balance off in full when you get the monthly statement. No interest charged and you'll retain the card

quite common now
many are simply closed with no option to keep open while some, like yours, give you the option of using if you wish to keep it open.0
