Expensive Opodo amendment - help

Hi all,

I have booked a trip for me and my mum on Opodo. However, I have found myself in a fix.

I am sure when I purchased the ticket, my mum was down as 'Mrs', but maybe its my error or something, but the ticket now says 'Mr'.

I tried to get this changed at Opodo (only a change in title), but they are charging me £58 to do so! which is really expensive.

Can anyone advise me whether there is a way t avoid this charge or to lower it? It willl be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you're able to squeeze out of that one.
The same happened to me in early 2006 when I booked a flight with OPODO. I'm pretty sure it was the correct 'Mr' when I clicked the 'Buy botton'. When the confirmation arrived, it said 'Ms' and I had to amend the booking. At that time it 'only' cost me £35.
Opodo probably makes more money on amendments than on flight tickets!

    A scam? Hmmmmmm...

Anyway, needless to say; I've never booked with them again.

Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago, i'm a Mrs but my ticket said Mr, because we didn't notice until about a month before the flight, i was told we would have to pay £75 to have a new ticket issued. I asked to speak with a manager who was to ring me back this didn't happen, so i rang them back a couple of days later and was told they now wanted £125 to reissue the ticket. I had to argue with them to get the change made for the original £75.

When we got the reissued ticket it was changed from Mr to Mrs what we didn't pick up was that they had changed the return flight time on the reissued ticket from the evening flight on my husbands ticket to an morning flight. We only noticed this when we were filling out visa forms on the plane. Fortunately the ground staff at Bangkok airport showed some sense and put us both on an evening flight at no extra cost. In fact we did gain out of their common sense as they gave my ticket to a standby passenger and gave us a day hotel free meal and $300 compensation.

    Opodo were unhelpfull throughout

Give the airline a ring, i have had this happen to me, Dr gets translated into assuming I am male, or turned into Mr, in most cases as long as the names themselves match the airline will be not be worried by the citation, but you need to call them to make sure. But speak tpo a supervisor rather than a call centre rep.

As long as the name on the ticket matches the name on the passport then she will be able to fly. Given that there isn't a title printed on a passport, it doesn't matter whether the ticket says Mr, Mrs, Princess, etc., it won't be a problem.

Can you say for sure that it isn't true? My own experience tallies with PBA - I haven't ever been (or seen anyone else) denied boarding for the wrong citation. In fact I would be 99% confident nobody would even notice.

I've always been told that your title (mr, mrs etc) is not part of your name, legally  (which is why it's not on your passport and why you're not supposed to use it on cheques etc)
