in Credit cards
Oh my god, I'm having a nightmare.
I seem to have had credit card fraud (or attempted fraudulent transactions) on 4 of my 5 credit cards all on the same day.
My Eggmoney card (everyday card), my Santander Zero card (for holidays, which I've never even used yet!), my Barclaycard (an old credit card i don't use anymore) and my Amazon card (which I applied for for the free voucher but haven't even received yet).
I think it must be via a computer virus as I access all of these online. I've downloaded 3 different viruscheckers and only one found a virus (a trojan) which could be the cause.
I've been spending ages on the phone to each company and the fraudulent transactions have been virtually up to the limit (~£6000) on each account!!!
I feel violated, and stressed that I'm having to do all my Xmas shopping on my debit card and missing out on cashback until my new credit cards arrive.

IME, replacement credit cards arrive within a very few days. I'd put Xmas shopping on the back burner, if I were you. There are plenty more shopping days to Christmas.I feel violated, and stressed that I'm having to do all my Xmas shopping on my debit card and missing out on cashback until my new credit cards arrive.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

If its a information stealing trojan then perhaps spend the time making sure the computer really is clean, and figuring out how it got dirty in the first place so it doesn't happen again, while waiting for the cards to arrive might be time very well spent. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0

Which virus checkers did you use? Get https://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ Set it to do a full scan
The chances of what's happened to you occurring is very remote unless you or someone at your address is directly involved in the attempted fraud. Or a 'virus'. You're responsible for that too of course.
Check your PC or any other machines linked to that router.0 -
In addition to virus scanning, it is equally important to change your usernames/passwords for any online banking website and any further websites that contains your card information such as PayPal.
A good secure password consists of letters, numbers and additional characters such as @ ! ~ & * ( ) $, and is best not to use any words in the dictionary. We’ve had to remove your signature. I have a 'dormant' current ac with Halifax with £2.0? left in.Not used since i transferred ac to alliance & leicester Sept 2008 due to a massive error made on my ac by halifax inefficency.not given it another thought till received an email with receipt from itunes for £10.16 in Oct ...not been on itunes since Feb 08!Discovered someone used my itunes ac with debit card details still stored from halifax ac!Contacted both itunes & halifax to report fraud. As a result i have had to pay the £10.16 & the halifax have added insult to injury by charging me £35.00 for insufficient funds & £28.00 for exceeding non-existent overdraft.Went into branch to ask to stop the charges as not yet been paid but Manager refused pont blank!Surely this cannot be legal to charge me for a fraudulent activity?Help!0

Virus checkers on there own are not always enough
I would recomend installing malwarebytes
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
and spybot search and destroy
http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html
update them (and use spybots immunise function) and your anti virus
then run the computer in safe mode and then scan the computer with all 3, one after the other

Modern Virus / Trojan are very good at hiding themselves safe mode makes it alot harder for them, often its like an onion you remove one layer only to reveal more underneath0 -

Very good point this, I'm embarassed to have forgot to mention this myself. Once you are certain your computer is clean, then change allyour passwords to everything. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
