Switched based on Martin's advice last October.
Finally closed my Halifax account today.
Comparing Alliance & Leicester with the old Halifax account is like comparing night and day.

There's good, and there's bad.
A&L just cut the rate on my cash ISA from 5.15% to 4.75% - 3 weeks after the start of the new financial year (i.e. after those who top up their ISA at the start of the year - like me - have done so).
And a 0.4% cut when the Bank of England rate hasn't changed since August last year (when A&L cut the rate by 0.25% too)!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Not to mention that their T&Cs allow them upto 2 days to transfer cleared funds from one A&L account to another. I wonder who gets the interest during those 2 days!!!0
