Hi guys,

I'm already a Alliance and Leicster Current Account Holder and today applied for their internet saver 6 which offers 3% for deposits above £1000.

One of the main reasons I applied with A&L is b'coz I thought it will be a smooth process. Well It's not. At the end, I got a message

"We are now processing your application and we will notify you with further details via email within the next 5 working days".

My question is - do they Credit Check for this, even though I applied using their own Internet Banking and already hold an account with them?

thanks for your time and any advice really appreciated

I opened this account with them the other day and I have several other account with them, got the same message as you,

BTW I forgot about the £1000 min intiall trasfer requiremnt, so I trasfered over £1500, then £1000, back. I will add more to it later on.
  • I was credit checked when I changed from a A&L saver account to an Online Saver even though it was them who suggested I change when I called about a completely unrelated matter! I really find it strange when they do this - why pressurise me into changing and then say I will be subject to a credit check?

No, savings accounts are not credit checked, as the bank is not giving you any credit. It just takes a while to open because they are A&L, and so therefore generally useless.

I expect the above are actually identification checks. These will show up on your credit report, but only to you. Any other bank that looks at your credit report will not see identification checks made by anyone else; they are entirely invisible.

You will not be credit checked for savings accounts.

it's just that I have requested a Credit Limit increase for my Abbey Credit card last week and is still waiting for them to get back to me. Should have waited for a result from that before applying for this savings acct.

thanks rb10 - hope they do what u have mentioned above and hope they won't do the actual Credit Check, fingers crossed

    That message is standard.

When I applied I got an email immediately saying they would let me know within 24 hours.
3 minutes after that I received another email telling me that the account was open and giving me the account number.
Shortly after that the account was available in online banking

Did you receive any email? Check your spam folder.
