New Savings After bankruptcy....

Hi everyone - my first post here, so hope I'm in the right place
I am really lucky in that as I'm 52 I have been able to draw on my pension early... and i'm going to get around £25k lump sum next month.
I am however 6 months out of bankrupcy (discharged) and during the BR i lost my house etc... now have a co-op bank account without any cheque book etc etc...
I obviously need to start a nestegg with a view to perhaps getting a mortgage again one day soon, but also need to start moving on and opening up my credit worthiness too... so i have 2 main questions:
1. I am able to initialy save £20k of this as the basis of my future - what is the best way to save this (bearing in mind I may need access and intend to use it towards the deposit)
2. I would really like to start opening my credit worthiness again... is there such a thing as a bank that will give me all the normal bank facilities with a decent enough sum?
Once bitten twice shy and i will not be looking for credit - but as a woman in business i really do need facilities... even my business is all Paypal and is very restrictive. I appreciate the restrictions but just wondered if the co-op is my only sanctuary - or is there a better way forward now?
many thanks
Fiona
