Hi
Im new here so please bare with me
I have a flex account with Nationwide, when I applied for the account I asked for NO OVERDRAFT but yet they added a £100 overdraft on.
I have been charged £20 for going in to the overdraft even for just a few pence.
Can I get the charges back and cancel the overdraft?
Thanks

to be honest Treacle its probably a good thing they did put the £100 overdraft on it if you went over you allowance.
If you were with Halifax (current plan) then you would have got charge £28 for them lending you the money + £35 for the priviledge of an unauthorised overdraft - £63 in total!!!0 -
You have not been charged for going into the overdraft by a few pence.
You have been charged for exceeding it by a few pence.
Are you sure you actually do have an overdraft facility in place?
If you have had a £20 unauthourised overdraft charge it means you must have exceeded your authourised overdraft limit.
So you have spent over £100 of the banks money.
How would it have helped if you had no authourised overdraft?
The charge still would have been £200 -
£20 is a charge for using an unauthorised overdraft. You presumably made a transaction that took you overdrawn.Treacle2009 wrote: »I have a flex account with Nationwide, when I applied for the account I asked for NO OVERDRAFT but yet they added a £100 overdraft on.

If it was a direct debit they could have bounced it. That would have cost you £30 instead.
Ask them nicely and see how they respond. Can I get the charges back
You don't have an authorised overdraft limit (if I've understood correctly). You have a buffer zone that your provider will honour payments in. They will charge you if you use it. If you didn't have it they would charge you more for bouncing a payment that you didn't have the funds to cover.and cancel the overdraft?0 -
If you log into Nationwide online banking and select your Flex Account look on the left side of the page then click on "overdraft".
What does it say for your "agreed limit" ?
How much is your "reserved limit" ?0
