Had I done what I know I should have done I'd probably be around £30k better off than I am today (£40k paper loss that would have been much smaller had I diversified to other shares).
Lesson learned the very hard way.
I knew what I should do before the crash hit and, due to a mix of greed, faith in Hornby and laziness, didn't do it.0 -
At least you're philosophical about it, it could have been worse. Around the time everything was kicking off last September, I remember someone being interviewed on BBC news who had his life savings (around £400k if I recall correctly) invested in HBOS shares :eek:
Regarding the corporate bond fund, as others have said I'm not sure how a 75% capital loss would be incurred on this. You almost certainly don't have the full picture. As per below (which assumes income is paid out and not reinvested) that level of loss can't be explained by price movement of the fund alone...0
