fixing

Anyone any thoughts on whether it would be best to keep with a 3.14% instant access or use the 3.5% fixed 1 yr with the halifax?

Has the 3.5% Halifax fixed web saver been lowered in recent months or has this account slightly increased recently?

thanks

On £1000 that will give £36 difference. £314 vs £350.
If you stay with the instant then you can take advantage of anything else that comes along.

My view is that fixed rates don't give you enough at the moment and would rather wait and see what happens next year when RPI increases.

but I need all my money back in jan 2011?

Also the childrens halifax regular saver.
I opened one back in 2006 to 2007 and only funded it for a year. At the time I didn't realise that I could have one for more than a year. Dooes anyone know if that account can be reactivated and used. I know its only £100 a month regular saver, but it is 6%

A bit of both? I'd be surprised if the rates on easy access acounts rose over the next 12 months. As providers see wholesale markets continue to easy retail savings rates will probably drop a little.

It was 2.6% a few weeks ago. You could get a fraction of a per cent more shopping around. Use www.moneyfacts.co.uk to compare options.

You can't "reactivate" but you can open a new one. You can do this online although my experience tells me that it's quicker by phone. 0845 601 8150 (lines are open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm Saturday and 9am to 5pm Sunday)
