Mortgage after divorce

hey folks newbie here,
I have recently got divorced, my ex has stayed in our old home, they have bought me out.
The house was transferred into their name 2 weeks ago.
I want to buy my own house ASAP.
Was just wondering, if I should wait a few months before applying for a mortgage, to let my credit score settle down?
Or as the old mortgage, will now show on my credit file as paid, can I just go ahead and apply for a mortgage now?
Just want to get things moving, renting at the mo so dead money.
Anyone have any idea, how long I should wait, if at all.
Thanks for reading, and replying I hope :j

Ok your right I probably do need an education, and I shall retract my statement, renting is not dead money
However, back to my original question, do I need to wait a while, before applying for a mortgage, or should I be OK to apply now?0 -
The thing about letting your credit score settle down, all myth.
If you see something you like go for it dont think anyone on here would be brave enough to tell you when to buy cause house prices are shifting up or down mind.
If your divorced should wiped him cleanout the credit file too not associated any longer.
Go for it good luck0 -
Yeah have seen a few houses I like, and want to apply for a mortgage yesterday, was just uncertain whether I should wait a bit.
Thanks Captain, you have put my mind at rest a little :beer:0 -
Have you checked your credit files to make sure that the information recorded is correct?0
-
No I havent checked my credit file. I will do that tomorrow, I assumed that it would just be updated, but I guess you should never assume anything, and I should ensure that it has been before applying for anything.
Thanks SouthCoast0 -
My ex-husband was still on my credit report five years after we divorced! Also check you are registered to vote at your present address, and that this is correctly recorded on your file. You should check both Experian and Equifax as a minumum, and Callcredit as well if you want to be really thorough. How to guide on the main MSE site.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
