Question regarding Duty Free

I'm traveling from Norway (layover in Frankfurt) and then off to Dublin..I'm guessing I can't bring Norwegian vodka (would buy in duty free shop in Norway) with me?

Having a major brain fart and can't remember heh.

  • You certainly can - well 1 litre anyway!

Just make sure they put it in a tamper proof bag in Norway and seal it.

Done this myself from Stavanger via Amsterdam to the UK - no issues at all.

Remember that Norwegian duty free prices may well be more than shop prices in Dublin - assuming your favourite brand is available

Yeah but I mean Ireland/Dublin not UK. I thought the rules were different for entering a EU country. You would think after all the traveling I have done I would remember lol. I'm buying a few friends some Norwegian vodka (2 half lt. bottles).
I'm just majorly paranoid if I will have to go thru German security they will take it away from me!

Germany the UK and Ireland are all in the EU with the same rules on entering from outside - eg Norway. 1 litre is fine - as long as security will wear it. If it's in an officially sealed bag they should. There's no guarantee they won't have a bad hair day though.

What I meant was that Norwegian prices are high anyway and that even with true duty free status they could be expensive. (When ferries ran to Norway from the UK the duty free prices they offered their Norwegian customers were more than duty paid UK supermarket prices. They offered their UK customers money off vouchers to compensate)

Dzug, normally I would just buy it from the other end BUT being I would like to bring them something FROM Norway...that's why I was wondering.

I remember the Newcastle ferry. I miss it. I actually heard they are starting it up again next year!! :D
