Hi all,

I have only been a member of this site since August but already I see a difference in myself and my situation!

I'm still a way off yet from becoming debt free but, I feel I am "managing" my payments better, I write in my diary at least once a day which is also a great help!

I look for bargains, and also have learnt to say "no" (remembering the old do you need it or want it rule?)

I also have a savings acount, which may seem normal to some but for me is a milestone, as I never used to have any money to save! I have also found I am able to go a month without dipping into my overdraft!

the site is amazing and life changing, I thank each and every member, you can not begin to imagine the impact you have had on my life :D

  • Me too. It's completely inspirational, and whilst I still buy "things", now do it in a much more savvy way, have paid off lots of my debt and have a proper and manageable plan that I'm sticking to, and not sure would have come so far without MSE

    Gosh, so many things
    • I save my £2 pound coins
    • I (try to :o) have NSDs
    • I freeze a lot more food & consequently throw away a lot less
    • I have a plan on how I'll clear my overdraft, which was just like some lurking sea monster before - huge & impossible to imagine tackling
    • I have a much more stringent thought process when it comes to "treating" myself
    • a personal one for me but it's really helped face to how much I drink & do something about it
    • Best of all, I can visualise being debt free for the first time in years
Yay for MSE & all you lovely posters :T

wow brokenhearted you are doing so well!

    Since joining:
    * I have learned to budget and live within our means
    * Paid off loads of debt
    * Survived nearly 6 months of being unemployed without adding to debt for day to day living (had to get newer car as 2 old cars died - but got 0% interest loan from MIL)
    * Earned lots of extra income on the £10 a day challenge
    * Found a great support network here
    * Had the best xmas ever - as used the special occasions board for hamper ideas and low cost present ideas

If you stick with "the program" it really does help! Once we have cleared our credit cards and personal loan we want to make a start on the mortgage!

I love knowing there are like minded people out there, and also people that get excited about overpaying the mortgage / finding a bargain at a car boot sale / 50p on a scratchcard :rotfl:
