A guilty pleasure of mine- I watch it every night when I come home from work!
What amazes me though however is how frequently the amateur developers rennovate the properties to a poor standard; shoddy tiling, exposed pipes/trunked cabeling and awkward freatures left in and painted over rather than removed.
Then 9 times out of 10 the estate agents say how its been rennovated to a high standard!!
Do you think the BBC have been threatened to maintain the illusion that property is still worth something!!

Nope, it just shows EAs don't have a clue0

High standard for what? If rental it only has to be safe. If resale then it has to be higher.
Homes Under the Hammer is my only property !!!!!! guilty pleasure. I love to see derelict slums brought back into use.Been away for a while.0 -
I like property snakes and ladders, ignore Beanys advice at your peril.0

You have to uptalk everything. It's EA speak for "bog standard development"
Ours says "The quality of the fixtures throughout are outstanding" which must make it something like "a very nice development" which it is.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I have seen them say that something was poor before, just not often.
It annoys me when they talk about being OK for rental because they always make out that "it's only renters, so can be as !!!!!! as you like, they don't matter"0 -
Most are out of date anyway like 2007 etc. I doubt you could really make much of a profit in todays market unless you cut corners0

I've actually served the guy when he came into the restaurant when they were filning nearby. He's very rude and ignorant and 'up himself' in my opinion.
On another note my step father was on the programme the other week less said about that the better0 -

Is he in Stoke on Trent as well? I swear at least half the properties featured are there. It must be the cheapest place in the country for terraced houses. They must have a lot of them there.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

They seem to have a good deal with Graham Penny in Derbyshire as well.
I like HutH as I am at home two days a week and try to make space to watch it. There are a fair number of cautionary tales among the success stories.0 -

They are newish ones I'm sure. The new take is the fact that you don't get any money from savings right now, so property is the place to put your money. Those two really grate on me now, I've swapped to Jeremy Kyle - now that's really saying something!
Sarah Beeny says it; you can make money in any market and it is true but you need to know what you are doing. So many people have relied on luck to get them through and genuinely believed that they had the formula.
Back end of 2007, this guy that H thought was 'the dogs' turned to me and told me that in this market you can't just throw money at a place and have the best of everything - it's really important to budget and concentrate on the important things.
Talk about teaching Granny to suck eggs. Never rely on the bouyancy of the market to provide your profit; generally in the form of finding someone prepared to pay well over the odds for something super but blatantly overpriced. Frankly, I'd rather sleep at night - to know that someone has got decent value and that I've not overspent either in the first place.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
