Question on best house insurance when I have lodgers

Any advice on the home insurance issues surrounding having lodgers is welcome. Please let me know the best companies. Is there anything to protect against theft when the door has not been forced - indicating theft by a lodger of someone connected with them? What about protecting myself from being accused by them of something? Thanks!

Just a practical suggestion, but you could get everyone (including yourself) a small hotel type safe for valuables.
We got one for about £20 from screwfix direct.
I know it doesn't mean a lot to insurers and won't foil armed robbers, but it should stop petty and opportunistic theft.0 -
ok. with regards to lodgers - you can't get YOUR CONTENTS INSURANCE to cover their items as you have no financial relationship with their items.
YOUR BUILDINGS INSURANCE can cover you but check as some insurers will class this as a house share situation and give you cover.
You WILL need to tell your insurance company that you have lodgers as it is a material fact that could affect how much they charge you or whether they cover you at all.Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0
