Accommodation in Kiev Help

I am going away with 2 others to Kiev in November for 3 nights and am looking for some reasonably cheap accommodation. Hotels in Kiev appear to be rather expensive if you want a more central location and most hostels do not offer rooms for 3 people. We are not too keen on sharing a big dorm with others. Does anyone know if it is ok to book a dorm meant for 4 people and just paying for the extra bed?
Alternatively does anyone have an idea of where I could find some cheap late hotel deals for Kiev?
TY in advance

When we went to Kiev (fantastic city btw) we rented an apartment. Frankly hotels in Kiev are either terrible or expensive so renting an apartment is usually the preferred way for "price conscious" foreigners to stay.
There's many companies that rent apartments, we used kievaccommodation.com who were pretty professional. You can get from the airport to town yourself but I'd advise renting a taxi through them (and picking up the keys on the way).
Have a great time. Kiev is an outstanding destination with lots to see and do, and because of recent devaluation of their currency pretty cheap to eat and drink. I can't wait to go back.0 -
Thanks Dougalan, I will look in to the apartments idea and see where it takes me.0

I didn't book anywhere in Kiev in advance, and found somewhere on arrival (although the guidebook I had gave me some clues). There's a hotel near the University metro station, and just up from the main train station, called Hotel Express (they have a website).
The rates look fairly pricey, but the guidebook said they have some rooms without bathroom which they sell on arrival. I asked for this, and they happily sold me one. The room was excellent (very like a travelodge) and the bathroom was effectively the en-suite in another room being used as facilities for the entire floor. Clean, and breakfast on the top floor was excellent. I think I paid £25 a night, for a single.
