Holiday suggestions for autistic child

Hi, has anyone any suggestion for a holiday may 2010. Been to salou twice, but was a lot busier this year. The 7yr old is autistic and loved portaventura, but got a bit flustered with the crowds this year. 2 yr old has bad excema so cant be anywhere too hot and need a kids club for the 5 yr old. Been looking, but cant find anywhere that ticks all the boxes. So can anyone please help.

Looking for a place to go with 3 kids is difficult and more of a personal preferance when one doesnt like the heat and the other has autism then thats so refined a search. Your friends and family should be able to help more as they know you and your kidz Does the older one have any fixes on disney or space travel films (special effects etc) you could try florida off season (quieter and no so hot)Also good for toy story/carz etc. Or the open spaces of Germanys black forest/canadas mountains maybe a driving break If they like driving just some suggestions / sometimes its the adults that think too hard. My autistic son is nearly 20

  • If its theme parks you're keen on - try France - there's Parc Asterix and Futuroscope. Both are best accessed if you drive through France, however - not sure if that is something you'd manage. There are some good cottages and mobile home parks near these - so accommodation can be reasonable. As long as you avoid the main French holiday times of August, crowds should be more manageable.

  • Hi, have you tried contacting the National Autistic Society? They have lots of information, and may be able to suggest holiday destinations that other families have recommended?

Why not have a good old British holiday?

Centerparcs, although they are expensive , have lots of activities for every age group, yet they have plenty of peace and quiet too, no cars around either apart from changeover day when you're allowed to drive to your lodge to unload.

Great swimming pool complexes too. They also have a spa, so perhaps you could treat yourself to a treatment while you're there?

Because you don't have to fly you can load the car up and take familiar stuff from home for your 7 year old, to make it less 'different' for him. Whether it's his teddies and his own bedclothes, or a favourite 'big' toy you'll have room for it.

ALso, it's not too hot for your two year old, so no worries there either.

We do haven a lot with our children ( 2 have asd). We find haven has lots to offer, to much sometimes and they dont want to do anything but stay on site!

We also did salou this year as you say its quite a busy place and not good for one of mine especially who is terrible in new places.

Next yr we are hoping to hire a french villa with pool. This will give the kids something to do and will mean we wont have to go out everyday which is very stressful with out little one. The older children are getting into history now so I feel Normandy will have a lot to offer and we can drive there. Saying that little one LOVES flying.

Good luck, holdiays are never easy with kids even harder with children who issues. x
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
