Protecting S&S ISA Gains

If I owned shares that I thought had peaked I could easily sell them and re-invest the cash at my leisure.

What can I do with stocks and shares ISAs without losing their tax free status? I believe I don't have to re-invest in another S&S ISA immediately - I can hold the proceeds of the sale as 'cash' while I decide what to buy instead. Is this true and if so how long would I have to decide ?

If I had to re-invest quickly can anyone suggest an interim, cash-like fund I could park the proceeds in until I was ready to re-invest ?

Last October my S&S ISAs fell by 30% - 40% and I did nothing about it. They've now recovered and I rather not lose out again given the uncertain future.

Theres no limit to how long you can keep as cash inside S&S wrapper.

You can buy and sell at your leisure.

But whilst its in cash you get very limited interest rates where the interest is taxed.

I don't know if there cash funds exist.

Thanks. I found an article on the This Is Money web site which suggests that it depends on the ISA manager.
