Air New Zealand deals finish before I can book. Any ideas, please?

Hi

I was hoping someone who flies a lot could help me out with this.

My husband's company want him to work in NZ for 2 weeks in Nov/Dec. They have offered 4K for airfares so that we could all go (instead of 1 business class ticket).

We (1 mum, 2 teenagers and an 8 yr old) would like to join him flying no earlier than 10th Dec and coming back before the New Year.

The snag is I'm a part time teacher and I have to apply for special leave ie - work the days I'd miss at end of term in November -up front. If the Air NZ deals fights shoot up in price from midnight Mon/Tues, we won't be able to afford to go.

My husband can get someone in the Australian office to book flights at midnight tonight our time. They can be held for 3 days. So with time diff. we have to tell her by end of business Tues our time.

I have to get my boss's signature on the application for leave form tomorrow then beetle down to County Hall to the HR dept and hope they will phone with a decision by Tues pm, which my boss says is unlikely as they don't move fast. I will be very persuasive, though.

Does anyone more savvy than me know any way to make this happen, please? We will never get a chance like this again and I can't face losing the £600+ cancellation fee if we booked then I couldn't go.

Thanks in advance.

Does it have to be Air New Zealand? There are lots of other companies that fly there. I booked with Singapore Airlines via cheapticket.co.uk which were cheaper than most at the time (for Xmas and New Year when we are going). We've done it for just over £2000 for two adult tickets 19th-2nd, so you ought to be able to find something if you fly earlier.
