Has anyone found anyone who advertises/co-ordinates/helps exchanging an owned home for someone else's owned home? Our home has been for sale for 2 years and we're getting nowhere with finding purchasers. Our 4-bed detached house is in Cheshire and we would consider exchanging it (up or down market) for a bungalow in North Wales but can't find any estate agents who can (or will) help. I think they're frightened they'll miss out on their fees.
We did exchange our previous house 10 years ago and it worked very well for all involved. We moved upmarket and exchanged with a young couple who were financially overstretched, and with a new baby on the way - they got a larger, cheaper house and about £15,000 in cash. We were newly married and got to start afresh in our own home rather than my previous marital home. That exchange was easier as we weren't moving into a different part of the UK.
There is a programme on TV called Home Swap and I tried a couple of the websites their webpage mentions but they seem to be full of rubbish & rented home exchanges. I wonder where the programme makers find their prospective home owners to use in the filming?
Has anyone got any ideas or tips to help in our plight?

Why isn't your house selling though? You will run into the same problems with an exchange. Ppresumably your asking price is too high? Somebody exchanging will find the same problem when working out a deal, unless they are looking to move to your area and are having problems selling because they are asking too much!0
