What is this tool called, and where can I get one ?

Hi everyone

I am just finishing off redecorating my flat, and am about to finish off the edges with some decorators caulk, to give a very nice clean line.

Last time we had the place decorated, they used a special plastic tool, which instantly gives a perfect line ? I can't for the life of me, find it anywhere, B&Q etc etc.

Anyone know what its called, and where I can get one ?

i usualy use masking tape for this sort of thing, just peel it of when the decorators caulk's almost set
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

Wet your finger and use that for smoothing.

The wet finger wins every time! But you need to keep it nice and wet - so a wad of well soaked kitchen paper is the best thing to wet it with. As silicone / frame sealant in your mouth isn't totally pleasant.:p

But it's a good idea to cut the nozzle aperture on the sealant tube a bit smaller than normal - as the smoothing via finger spreads it out a bit.

Incidentally - you normally do any filling / sealing .... before the decorating?? The exception being when sealing tiles to work surfaces / baths / shower trays.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

    Hi,
Do remember not to lick your finger while smoothing caulk.

Someone gave me a good tip - to dab your finger tip with washing up liquid instead of saliva and it did seem to work well. Once its dried just wipe any washing liquid away.:T

A word of advice folks.Do not stick your finger in your mouth when using silicone. The chemicals in it can rot your gums. When using decorators caulk(or acrylic) a wet cloth is as good as anything.
