However 5 years ago me and hubby started our own business which is now sucsesfull and hubby runs this on his own now im looking to go back to work
Ive found a job that im really intrested in office manager at a local primary school im finding the application form difficult
its asking for 2 refrences however like i said the jobs were jst over 5 years ago and i wasnt in them long so not sure what to put here
the discription of the job is
Have experience of dealing with members of the public
• Be able to maintain a database system
• Perform a wide range of administrative tasks including managing some income
• Assist the School Finance Officer by supporting the schools ordering and stock
control processes.
• Provide administrative support to members of the Senior Management Team
• Manage a small team of staff effectively
i have done all of these in the last 5 years dealing with customers public on a day to day basis , doing our accounts, handiling the budget all the admin jobs , letter writing etc
and organsing the diarys for appoiments .fittings etc
i feel i could do the above job but not sure how to word it all on my application and what to do about the refrences ?

Your not shooting too high if you feel you can do fulfill the requirements, id word the experience part so you cover all the points but dont for example say "Be able to maintain a database system" but try and word it so what your trying to get across is that you have maintained a database
sorry cant help with anything else but im sure someone would be along soon to offer help0 -
Are you planning to write a CV, complete an application form or apply by letter?0

i have to complete an application form, what do you think about the refrences ? it also asks in the discription for a happy "can do" attitude which i feel i certainly have
its just wording it all to make it flow and read correct0 -
IN regards to references, what about someone you have dealt with professionally? For example, do you use an accountant to run the business accounts? If so, he/she would count as a referee. without knowing the nature of the business I'm making a stab in the dark but what about one of your suppliers or a company you have purchased from? Maybe you could get one of them to say they have had business dealings with you. You could also look at a character reference - someone who knows you (not related to you), has known you for 5 years and holds a "position within the community" - basically anything like a teacher, accountant, doctor, dentist, nurse, lawyer - anyone who holds an accredited qualification (basically the same kind of person who you would get to sign your passport pictures).
When you give your references, explain that you and your husband ran the business together so you obviously can't get him to referee.[STRIKE]Halifax =£35
American Express=£70[/STRIKE]
HSBC=£15,000 - now £12,000
Cahoot=£6500 - now £5200
Mint = £4950 - now £4099
