bank of scotland chasing me

So about 4 years ago i had a student overdraft with the bank of scotland. I managed to go way over my limit, which i honestly dont know why they kept letting use the card when there was obvisouly no money in the account!
Without any warning they changed it to a normal overdraft, even though i still was and still am a full time student!

So last year i was paying £50 a month towards it to get it back down to within its overdraft limit (£1050)

After that i stopped the payments as it was back under its limit, and heard nothing about it for almost a year. (bare in mind i got the card for this account took off me from an ATM, and have no access to the account anymore. Nothing goes in or out of it at all)

About a month or so ago i got a letter from them saying that if i dont make a payment on the account it will be going to a DCA, i phoned them and explained i am still a full time student and can't make any kind of payment until september when i get my student loan again.

I got a the same letter from them on Wednesday morning, and now my stepdad has just told me that they were phoning the house this morning when i was alseep.

Can anyone give me a templete letter to get them to stop phoning the house, as it is my mums house!

You should be notified about any changes to your account in writing. If you have not received this then you should inform them. You could do a SAR (Subject Access Request, templates available) for all the information they have on you. Which would include the adjustment to your account and the letter they sent to you informing you off this change.

I agree with DarkConvict, if you have any penalty charges you should reclaim them (with interest)

  • thanks, those letters do seem pretty harsh though.

They have only phoned a handful of times, but its my mum who hates people phoning the house for me, when i have 2 mobiles.
So thats the reason i want them to stop phoning the house
  • You can modify the letters if you like, use synonyms (similar words) that don't sound as bad, but so long as they get the general jist it would be fine.
