Cost of dentures nhs / private

Can anybody give me a rough idea of the cost of having a denture made ( upper and lower). After thyroid removal I developed tooth problems and now at 52 it looks like I am going to have them all taken out and replaced ( sob sob ) it is tooo painful to try and keep them any longer. Had upper partial set made but it fell out everytime I spoke ( very embarassing )but amusing too ! and 2 different dentists had a try at fixing it but I gave up on that . Now I am having pain as all front teeth are loose .so I am desperate for some advice re cost ..please .

Any good dentists in Cardiff ??

The costs can vary a lot.

On the NHS it would be about £195 in Wales (Not sure of the 'Band 3' charge over there.

Privately - £500 - £2000 depending on where you go.

The best way is to find someone through recommendation.

Your first set after having your teeth out woun't nlast you very long due to the shape of tings changing as the sockets heal up. Don't spend too much on that one.

12 - 18 months after extractions though, things will be more stable, and you can push the boat out a bit then.

A decent dentist should advise you of all that though.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
