Help with application form please

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could give me a little advice on an application form I am filling out. Its for a night receptionist in a well known UK hotel chain.

1) "Expected rate of pay" ? - What do I put? I haven't worked properly in 3 years (due to bringing up my son) - I don't want to seem over ambitious but then again I don't want to be ripped off.

The last time I worked nights I had £7.20 a hour (that was nearly 2 years ago) so I have no idea what to put. It says on the job description on the website "subject to experience" under the wage section. I am qualified to do this job and I have 5+ years experience of receptionist work.

Thanks in advance - Jo.

  • My suggestion is - put 'to be discussed at interview'. I don't think this would put anyone off interviewing you, and you can then see what they are like during the interview, and assess for yourself what they are likely to offer, before committing yourself. If all else fails, just saying honestly what you have said about previous rates of pay, etc. should start a worthwhile discussion.
