Hi has anyone been to either Pargo or Rhodes at this time. Looking for an affordable holiday, just me and Husband thats affordable, ie £300 to £325 each s/c . Both the above available. Been to Turkey at this time of year before and had good weather. Kefalonia is also available. Any views?

Hi
do you mean Parga?
Parga and Kefalonia are to the west of mainland Greece.
We've been to Zante and Kefalonia late September and the weather has been mixed, with some amazing electric thunderstorms and lots of rain.
Parga does look lovely but I'm not sure I'd consider it so late in the season.
I'd definitely try one of the Greek islands further east, such as Rhodes or Kos or consider Turkey again.0 -
We went to Rhodes in October half-term 2 years ago and it was still lovely and warm, and we only had rain one day. Everything in the old town and Lindos was still open and most of the other resorts were quiet but doing steady business. Faliraki was very quiet, so anyone into clubbing and lively nightlife would find it a bit dull, but it suited us as we spent some time on the lovely beach there, without encountering hordes of drunken brits!0

Thanks everyone...I quite fancy Rhodes. Ideally would like to go further afield but too expensive. Found a good deal with Olympic the other day. £695 for the 2 of us for the week. Next day gone up to £815. Off work that week so can afford to hang on and book nearer if need be0

I do hope you find something but I know a couple of years ago we were hoping to go away at October half term and were still looking a couple of days before and the flight prices still hadn't gone down. Mind you we were looking at DIY and just flight prices to spain so a package or Greece may be different although I went into a couple of travel agents and they said when it comes to October half term people are prepared to pay what it takes to get in a last holiday abroad before winter! only their opinion0

Some good deals on packages rather than flight only - we've booked through these guys:

and got a half-term deal in Crete for £100 less than the travel agent could do it, and some £120 cheaper than a flight only package (go figure!). It's in Malia, which we don't like, so we won't be staying there, but will hire a car and head south, and see what we can do deals-wise for accommodation!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
Went to Rhodes In October, stayed in South at PEFKOS which(backed by mountains)was much warmer than the busier north and east of the island.
Initially was suprised their season ends NOV 1st but towards the end of holiday a cold north wind began.
The west coast of Greece gets a LOT of rain in OCT...AVOID!!
Hope this helps0
