Globespan Cancellations

My wife and 5 freinds were booked up to go to Majorca for her 40th birthday

Fly out friday afternoon 23/10/09 back monday nite 26/10/09. so she was due back for her actual birthday with me and the kids.

She has just had an email telling her the monday flight is cancelled and she wont be home till early wednesday morning 28/10/09 and she need to leave at 10.00am on the friday now.

Is there anything i can do or anything she can claim for the inconvieience and extra outlay with accomodation etc

    she should also have the option of a full refund if the new flights are not suitable
  • what about changing to edinburgh? I dont think you will get anywhere with
    getting money back for any monies you have to shell out. As with all airlines
    they cover this in Terms and Conditions.

    Globespan are well known for doing this, this isn't the only flight they have cancelled next month.

    You will be entitled to a full refund or if there are seats available you could rebook onto the Edinburgh flight.

    You won't be able to claim for the inconvenience etc from them as their T&Cs cover them


    2 Changes to Flight Schedules
    2.1 We therefore reserve the right to amend, introduce stops, cancel or consolidate flights as necessary to achieve the high load factors required to maintain profitability whilst offering low fares.

  • If its more than 14 days they can do what they want as long as they offer you the option of a refund

    Globespan are pretty good at this and it put me off booking anything in advance with them.

    We had flights with them a couple of years ago from Aberdeen and they pulled the winter route. We had to go from Edinburgh at additional expense.

    This year we had flights booked from Edinburgh on Xmas Eve. Got an email saying they had pulled a few dates and routes and they put us on one going out 2 days earlier. No good to me, but when I called them they put us on the Boxing Day flight which was a lot more expensive at no extra charge. I still lost out as I had to pay an amendment fee to change the dates of the accommodation.

    Basically she will need to go on new flights or cancel altogether. (no chance lol)

  • though I dont agree with the way Flyglobespan work I sometimes think people need to take a step back and look a the bigger picture, what would you rather have a option to cancel with full refund/change flights or a other airline who bites the dust, takes all your money with it and leaves you fighting to get your money back.

    XL, seligo etc went out of business due to the fact they were selling holidays too cheap, sending aircrafts half empty etc, flyglobespan is trying to survive in this hard business, last year they kept afloat while airlines like BA announced losses.
    Its really not nice having to be on the receiving end of these flight changes, but I would rather have that that lose my money and see yet another company out of scotland go to the wall.
