Front fog lights

They don't point to the floor those these days. Functionally they don't do the job they used to as effectively, they are more akin to driving lights these days (still can't be used unless on Main beam)
Quite easily be blinded by them on unlit quite roads, most are easily 55W each + dipped bulbs.
It's just arrogance and no respect to other road users.
However - at least they have some lights on. It's the people out there who don't know where the light switch is that is more of a hazzard.
It doesn't have to be dark, especially this time of year with low sun which makes oncoming vehicles invisible unless they have lights on.
I'm all for DRL's0 -

still never been blinded by any
even if they dont point at the floor they are not as high as dipped beams.
however some tit in a 4x4 with xenons - yes! very unpleasant if they drive behind you too.0 -
Our local radio station seem to have the front fogs permanently on, on their people carriers.
Funny thing is they never warn people on their travel bulletins that it is very foggy today and be careful!0 -

TV advertising doesn't help though, nearly all car adverts have the foglights on, and it's more than just advertising the model has them, it is all about looks. And sure have 4 lamps on rather than 2 does look "cooler" even though illegal.
I can't remember when it was actually foggy last. Mist yes, but not fog.
Rain also doesn't count as fog, and turning on fogs makes it worse for on coming vehicles as the dazzle is increased due to the wet surfaces.
However, aye, the xeon's are awful, appear they are flickering as the vehicles move along the uneven roads and they have a more concentrated spot of light.0 -
Only goes to show too many people are too stupid to check them themselves :rolleyes:harveybobbles wrote: »Also by 2010 all new cars are meant to have tyre pressure sensors too!0 -
It's always a bit of an emotive topic this. Many people, as have posted here never seem to be effected by the fog lights but it always seems to dazzle me. I had menigitis as a child and have always been more susseptible to being dazzled.
The times rain is so bad in this country that fogs are needed is even less than when it's really foggy. I just dont get why people do it. I did have a collegue once who was gave a ticket to someone for having thier fogs on and because they had obviously been regulary using them one had blown. He also gave another ticket for having a defective fog light! If the dope hadn't had them on when he didn't need they never would have worn out, and he would never have got one ticket, let alone two! Oops!0 -
