go into the travel agents and get the Magic of Spain brochure ...DONT book out of it its far too expensive that will give you a good idea of the really nice areas of spain...or have a look at this http://parapromotions-spain.com/parador/spain/pvicsau.html its within easy reach of Gerona
or this one in the mountains in Majorca https://www.posadadelmarquesmallorca.com/php/home.php
Plus a good rule is go where the Germans go its often better quality and nicer
Its been awhile since I was there but Soller in Majorca is nice but gets very busy during the day with tourists from other resorts but its wondeful at night https://www.majorca-mallorca.co.uk/soller.htm

Colonia Sant Jordi is another option its very Majorcan and not a chippie for miles
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

i like tarragona which is close to salou, cambrils and la pineda - i was there a few years ago and it was not touristy at all, but yet close enough to other touristy places if you wanted to venture there, reus is also a nice place and my friends say madrid is fab

Cala D'Or in Majorca was nice and not very touristy. There are many Spanish people who live there all the time. I don't like touristy places either, but I would go there again. Soller is nice too, although we only spent a couple of hours there on a day trip.

Have you considered Menorca? There are no high rise blocks or nightlife there, so you don't get gangs of young people partying, and it's less touristy than Majorca.

I've also heard that the North West of Spain is really nice, but I've never been myself. A lot of Spanish people go there for their holidays, and you don't get the "Brits Abroad" groups going there.
Here I go again on my own....
