I'm wanting to buy an all in one printer

Hi everyone

I,m looking to buy an all in one printer but have not much idea where to start.

It will be used for scanning things like photos and pictures onto the computer, printing mostly photos but general schoolwork etc and for copying mostly documents.

It will have quite a lot of use but not tonnes on a daily basis.

I prefer to buy from stores rather than online.

It needs to be priced close to £70 and below.

I hope someone can help,we do have a small list of printers we have seen on the argos website but to be honest im not at all techy and the jargon means nothing to me.

So far we have seen:

Canon pixma mp150
HPpsc1410
Olivetti any_way photo all-in-one printer

Does anyone have any experience of these products or can suggest something towards our needs.

We have the usual argos,tescos,currys/comet,pcworld etc nearby.

Thankyou

Look for one that has stand alone copying capability(can be used as a photocopier without having to have the computer switched on) and individual ink cartridges for the different colours.

Something like the Epson RX425(I have personally used this)...steer clear of lexmark they may be cheap but in my opinion they are slow and the cheap price is lost when you have to buy replacement inks

This may be a slightly older model than some available but have seen that you can get it at PCWorld for £69.97

This also has the added advantage that it has card readers for photo printing direct from card should you ever want to.

I would highly recommend that once you have a list of different makes and models, you then look a the replacement cartridge price, and let that be the factor which makes your mind up. Makes llike the Lexmark range are cheap to buy, but can almost be the same price for a black and colour cartridge.

I have an Hp all in one for work and a Lexmark X1180 at home, the HP cartridges are £6 each, the Lexmark are £14 each ? The Canon ones are also pretty cheap to replace

    just a thought ;)

I have a fantastic Brother printer/copier/scanner which I would highly recommend - and I notice that Brother themselves are selling refurbished ones - e.g. at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Factory-Refurbished-Brother-DCP7010-Printer-Copier-Scan_W0QQitemZ6878513685QQcategoryZ3303QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have no connection - a friend bought one of their refurbished faxes which seems fine :)

I have an all-in-one Epson stylus photo RX420 and I wouldn't recommend one. It's extremely slow printing, and picture printing quality is poor compared to my HP deskjet 5100 printer.

Please also be aware that when one ink cartridge runs out on the Epson you can't use it (even if the others are full) until the empty cartridge is replaced! Quite a pain in the pocket!

You`ve just missed the biggest bargain of the year.
Dell had all in ones for £13-49 each(if you bought two)but the offer ended on 3rd May

We have got a Brother DCP-110C. Its excellent. Can do colour or black&white copies without the computer having to be on. Takes seperate cartridges which are cheap to replace with a bit of shopping around. Has a memory card slot so you can print pictures straight from card. Its very easy to use too :D Don't know current prices as we got ours on a deal awhile ago.

Our Brother printer (DCP-110C) isn't too badly priced for ink IMO. For a full set, which is a black and 3 colours, you can get pukka Brother inks for £35ish but hubby gets the after market ones for £15 for a full set and we have had no probs at all. Its good that they use seperate cartridges so if one runs out you just replace that one and not have to waste any ink by throwing the whole cartridge away. Maybe the sales guy told you that so you would buy a more expensive printer?
