Car Hire USA help wanted

I am looking to hire a 4 wheel drive jeep for two weeks in California. In the past I have used a package supplied by my airline through Dollar . However I have found USCarhire has a gold package at £382. I know the USA dollar site has a price match but the uk site for us car hire with insurance doesnt mention this.
Has anyone used this company or Dollar UK. Looking for some info as it is such a price difference I am a bit suspicious. Please put my mind at rest.
Thanks

I believe UScarhire is a broker - they don't actually have cars they get them from other companies so you could end up with dollar, budget whoever. I think there was a thread on here about them - have you tried searching?0

We've just returned from 3 weeks in Orlando, where we used USCarhire. The car came through Dollar.
Had no problems with them what so ever. They were the cheapest we could find. We ordered a 4x4 and got a brand new (11 miles on the clock) Chrysler Pacifica. I'll certainly be using USCarhire again.0 -

Correct about them being a broker, but you do get the choice of which hire company they use for you.0 -
Thats a really good price. What CDW excess is on that package? Looks like they use Alamo and Dollar both of which I have used in the past and have been fine.0

Hi, one thing to check out though. Make sure you get a model that has some sort of covering for the "boot space". We got a 4x4 over there, threw the bags in the back and then realised they were going to be in full view as there was no kind of cover that you get in a similar vehicle over here. Ended up turning it down for a mid-size. If you are going to be in the one spot for the two weeks it won't be a problem, likewise if you suss out the exact model beofre completing the booking.
Have fun!0 -
Thanks for all your helpful replies. I telephoned uscarhire today, the car is thru dollar and good question about cddw excess I am assuming there is none but I will check it out.
I have had the prob before with bags in a 4 wheel drive. Some have a roll over cover but not all models. A large dark sheet manages to cover the back very well, same effect as a cover.
I think this has def put my mind at rest and at such a good price I am now going for it.0 -
Just checked with UScarhire and there are NO excesses on insurance. It is the same packages you would buy from Dollar or Alamo. I have booked now as the price meant we could get the car we really wanted at a great price. They were really helpful and replied to our questions very promptly. So extremley impressed so far.0

Have a look at UsRentacar, they are doing a 4x4 in San Francisco in August (for example) with Gold package, using Budget for £366.
Check out https://www.thedibb.co.uk - it is basically about Disney but there is endless information there and USRentacar are highly regarded by the members - me included0 -
