Widow and mortgage is in my husbands name!

:think:My husband died 3 weeks ago I looked after him for 2 years as his carer. The mortgage was in his name only and the life cover is not enough to clear the mortgage.

I have had to apply for income support again and as soon as I notified the DWP all the benefits were stopped. I have an 11 year old daughter and approx 75% equity in the property. I will only need a small mortgage of £35,000 to enable us to stay in our home.

I have no other employment, and had hoped to return to college to retrain in healthcare - I was supposed to go back to college next week? If I complete the 1 year course I will be able to go to university and get a small bursary and be eligable for working tax credits.

I would like to retrain as I am 45 and the training would enable me to work in a professional capacity until retirement and have a pension.

Any ideas?
