I did anticipate them using this opt-out clause which is why I argued the case strongly with the reservation manager "as a point of principle as you are obviously going to use semantic to squirm out of this". Emotional blackmail/high-horsedness - works a treat :p

In fact I pre-empted it; we then both sat at computers while he followed my instructions and I asked him to deny that building marked "4" on the map, and labelled "Langham" was not their hotel.

Interestingly Lastminute have still not editted the map despite Langham asking them to straight away.;)

Good for you. However as breakfast is anywhere from £19 to £23 per person,
would Jurys still not be a better deal? You could of course take breakfast at
    a nearby cafe.

True - about £30 more if we breakfast in [as I also get a £10 voucher to spend in the hotel].

Thing is, this is for my Fellowship Acceptance do which actually takes place at the Langham...hence I'll be paying abit more but for a swanky 5* hotel which is worth it as a memory.

It would have worked out perfectly all round if they had caved in on the 25% discount too but as i said the conversation has gone on FAR too long at that stage when they agreed to match Lastminute.

As you say, there are plenty of good cafes nearby if we wantd to breakfast out...but i intend to munch my way through the English buffeast!

Thanks to all for the continued help/interest!
