Hi, new to this forum, so sorry if haven't got to grips with it all yet. Hoping to travel as a party of 4 next summer to the East Coast of USA. Have to go in August (due to other half's job, so it is sooo pricey). What I would like to know if there is any advantage in trying for an apex style flight months in advance or is it generally better to wait and see if there are offers nearer our travel date? I realise that there will always be exceptions but someone must have done this before me.....
Thanks for any tips from all you seasoned bloggers.

Welcome to the forum. Please don't use bold/big text, it makes you look rather foolish.
In general prices for flights, especially long distance ones can vary up and down as the time to departure gets closer. However in general the prices tends upwards as you get closer to departure and eventually skyrokets (no pun intended).
So the general advice is, book early!0 -
I agree. Long haul always seems to be cheaper earlier.travelover0

August is peak travel time so if you wait to book closer to your departure date then chances are prices will be high. It all depends where in the USA your going, how many airlines fly there etc... All about supply and demand.
You can't book yet for August with all the airlines, so my suggestion would be to wait till all flights open up and then keep an eye on the prices. If you find a price you like then book your tickets, and never look at the prices again. Sometimes you get a good deal, sometimes you don't!!
Oh also depending on the day of the week you go/leave can help keep costs down. A Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday departure will be more expensive compared to a Tuesday/Wednesday departure. So if you are flexible with dates, then I would play around with the dates as well.0
