Off to Dublin next week for a day trip (one of the Ryan air £2 return fare jobs)
I'm after any tips, advice, places to go/visit, places that are cheap to visit (preferably free)
we arrive in Dublin City centre approx 8:30am and leave @ 23:00
any decent places to eat etc
already know about the tip regarding the tip about the dublinbus family ticket for 10 euros for the day
any other tips/advice would be appreciated, thanks

You'll struggle to find anything decent to eat before midday in Dublin, it's horrific in this respectFrom Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.

Kilmainham Jail is really interesting, and only about 3 quid to get into. If its a nice day you can get a boat out into the bay, but be prepared to get wet. St Stephen's Green is very pretty in good weather and the Porterhouse bar in Temple Bar has great music and drinks.0 -
You'll get a nice breakfast at La Pizza in Upper O'Connell Street where you get off the airport bus.0

From the moneysaving point of view, the Collins Barracks are free and are worthwhile to go and see - and you can walk there from the centre without fussFrom Poland...with love.

Take a walk along the bank of the river, it's free and is great. Find a pub and enjoy the atmosphere, the food is good and the beer great.0

I'm not sure how anyone could enjoy the atmosphere given the price of alcohol in Ireland!
I still can't figure out how Ireland has a reputation for being heavy drinkers when a beer in an average pub will cost you at least 6 EuroFrom Poland...with love.

You could try the open top bus ride, you'll see most of the sights that way, and if you make use of the hop on / hop off aspect you can spend most of your day.
Having said that most of the major sights in Dublin centre are within walking distance.0 -
And change your Euros before you get to the airport... sorry if grandmothers and eggs spring to mind.
A day is nice just to take in the vibe. Do any of the 2 for 1 food offers apply in Dublin?0
