Barclays lost my ISA application

Hi
I went into my local Barclays bank on 6/4/08 to open an ISA for 07/08. They subsequently lost my cheques and application form. I have got nowhere with the bank or with the Financial Ombudsman as unfortunately, I don't think that i was given a receipt for the money at the time - it was manic that morning as it was the last day an ISA could be opened for that tax year. There have been lots of postings regarding the Barclays ISA debacle for that year. I am trying to find out whether or not mine is the one and only one that was lost in the process and not opened.

If you opened on the 6 April then it wouldn't have opened in the 07/08 tax year, as you're a day late.
Did Barclays cash the cheque?0 -
No consolation I know but when dealing with any financial institution expect the worst because that's what you're likely to get. No receipt? The onus is on you to have proof of purchase for any transaction and it looks as though you'll have to write-off your ISA for that year.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0

Have some comfort in the fact it really doesnt matter that they lost the applcation form/cheque since they couldn't have opened this for you even if they had it. You were too late on 6/4/08.0 -
sorry, my mistake - it was actually Saturday 5th April 2008 - the last day that an ISA could be submitted for the 2007/08 tax year. They haven't cashed my cheques but I'm just trying to find out whether or not Barclays similarly lost anyone else's application.0

My wife and I both applied separately on the Monday after the 6th April, possibly the 7th. We both applied separately, on separate cheques and they lost both of them. I will never deal with Barclays again. I eventually stopped the cheques, and opened ISA's at Nationwide, but this was now half way through May, so we lost 6 weeks interest.0
