I Sold A Mobile Phone on Ebay

Ok so i know its a bit of a risk but it was a old Nokia 7250i and i banned people from abroad, -1 feedback and unpaid strikes. And stated on the auction i would only send to a UK verified and confirmed address
this is what happened...
A newbie won phone (i dont mind we all have to start somewhere) sold for £36 (musch more than i expected) and paid instantly but has a unconfirmed paypal address
what should i do? there is no phone number on his ebay account details but i looked him up on 192.com and there is a phone number should i email him explain im worried about scammers and ask him to provide a landline number so i can match it to the one on 192.com? Will i be covered by paypal if i send the item special delivery? im just not sure how to proceed..

Well suppose it's not a scam, imagine you're the buyer who has decided to try out this ebay thingy, actually won something, then paid instantly. Landline check is not going to help because if it IS a scam he can look on 192 same as you can. I agree it's a dodgy situation but think having made the sale you've gone too far to shilly-shally now. Don't know what I'd do though and hope it works out for you.I ♥ MSE0

no i realise it may not be a scam but i did state very clearly in big font that on the actual description that i would not ship to an unconfirmed address and this guy has an unconfirmed address...not sure what to do for the best:rolleyes: Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j0

I reckon 50% of the folk I sell too have unconfirmed addresses. You have already checked and they appear to be OK on 192.com. I would post the item out (personally for that value I would probably send recorded) special delivery. Your phone is a low priced item and would certainly not be attracting scammers.
As with all sales on EBay you have to make a judgement call but you have to trust folk and be willing to take a few calculated risks. For this to work for me anything undert £50 is posted without any real thought (by trackable method). You can only decide yourself what your level is.
Be brave and enjoy....:)0 -
thanks just needed some reassurance hear a few stories on here where it all goes wrong, think i will send special del just to give myself piece of mind that its tracked:rolleyes: Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j0

One last thing though make sure you note the IME number of the phone...just in case of problems.

i had the same issue with an Ipod nano....bought by a first timer, no phone number, but they paid instantly via pay pal. I sent the item and then heard nothing for a week. Royal Mail couldnt confirm it had been delivered even though it was sent special delivery (it wasnt until i made a call to the chief execs office that confirmation was finally forthcoming!). Anyway, over a week after sending feedback was finally left and all was ok. So I guess everyone has to start somewhere, we all had no feedback at one time or another and if payment has been recieved and you send via special delivery then as already stated, be brave!!Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.
