Claim against ticket issued via CCTV?

A few weeks ago I was given a fixed penalty notice for parking within the confines of a zebra crossing which cost me £60 and 3 penalty points (penalty code: PC30).
I was parked for about 5 minutes at 7am when nobody else was about however there were CCTV cameras pointing to the crossing. The local constabulary saw this and sent out a unit to award me my penalty.
I recently saw something on the bbc website about this type of penalty and how they aren't supposed to use CCTV to enforce parking tickets unless the area is inaccessible or dangerous.
I wouldnt have minded about this but I have just come to renew my car insurance and it costs about £200 with this penalty; considering this will be with me for 5 years, that is going to cost about £1000 for my mistake.
Can I ask peoples opinions on whether I should contest this, what my chances of success are and how I go about making a claim?
Cheers

The whole CCTV argument was about councils using it as evidence, I believe. In your case, it wasn't; you were ticketed by a police officer who saw the offence take place.
You've accepted a fixed penalty, and your chances of successfully appealing it now are about zero.
Parking on zebra crossings is dangerous; I hope you've learned a lesson?0 -
Fixed Penalty Notice is a :- Go straight to pay or straight to Maggies court. Its highly unlikly that you would win against the BiB. Parking on a crossing like this is a definate no no and they don't seem to take prisoners.
Unless the experts confirm otherwise then thats it.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Thats what I thought to be honest but thought it was worth getting some opinions.
Thanks
