30th birthday hamper - a child of 70s/80s??

Could someone please help? It is my DHs 30th birthday in December and after spending most of my day lost in threads for Christmas I have decided to make him a birthday hamper. My question is should I make the hamper theme a child of the 70s or a child of the 80s. I am sorry if these seems a ridiculous question, I just cannot decide which decade is more appropriate!
Thank you,
Laura

HI,
I'm doing an 80's themed birthday cake for a 30th birthday in November as she grew up in the 80's. I am doing the bottom layer with a pac man theme but still trying to decide on a theme for the top layer was thinking bright colours and LP's. Hope that makes sense :rotfl: Let me know if you come up with any ideas.£2 savers club #240 -
If I was you I would make one for a child of the 80's. He will have far more memories of this decade. Hope he has a geat birthday0

Thank you so much for all your help, I am now throwing myself into my hamper making. I was thinking a box of sweeties from the 80s - kind of like a large 10p mixture!! Some DVDs from his favourites shows - maybe the A-Team, a wine from 1979, any badges from the 80s - I know my clothes used to be covered in them, i found a webpage starting "you know you are a child of the 80s when..." and I think I will use that for my inspiration, it talks about wearing just your hood on your head and wearing your coat like a cape - happy memories!! If I get stuck, I will bulk it out with stuff from his football team, I am taking him to a match also so it will at least be appropriate - I am hoping not to have to use this as that was my idea for his Christmas!!
thank you for all your help!!
lmb4wcb - I love the sound of your cake, unfortunately I am no baker - my DH had a bad experience of my cooking when we were first married and I tried to cook shortbread - turned out like burnt flour!!! Never again!!!!
Sarah - I am an avid lurker on the Christmas threads - not yet posted but I LOVE your jokes, unfortunately my colleages are not too appreciative when I try to share them at teabreaks!! Maybe to early for them??!!0 -
You can get cheap 80s children's program DVDs on Amazon. Might be worth a look?

I just turned 30 and also vote for the 80's theme - I have no memories of the 70's at all.
