I have been checking up on old files. The NSI site tells me the number on the imaged card is invalid. Is it? As now I have no investments but may consider at some time.
The number format is 3:3:2 sone and and my name have been removed for security.

  • I'd remove that picture immediately Gordon! There are only a limited number of combinations with just two digits removed.

@Grantmk. Thanks. I've now doctored the picture.

The doctored picture looks like the number is 4:3:2 not 3:3:2 as you said.

What was the NS&I page where you tried to enter the number?

why not just write to NS&I and ask, then you will know for sure instead of asking a public forum

we as a country can still function off line you know, we have been doing it for quite a time in the old fashioned way

Isn't that the point of forums and threads like this? Maybe you don't like the way he said it but people won't try and help with reactions like that.

So is your number is 4:3:2 not 3:3:2 as you said?

What was the NS&I page where you tried to enter the number?
  • Hi,

I reckon that the second and fourth digits in the first block can only be a,b or c, so only nine combinations there.

    The second block is easy.

The third block is again a, b or c, so only three choices there.

So, in total, only 27 different combinations, if I was interested I would test my theory, but won't as I'm not a nosy person.

I would remove that photie oldwiring, if you want to know what I think the numbers are pm me.

Thanks. That page relates to Premium Bonds. I think your holders card is for National Savings Certificates.

Not sure that there is any risk in the inquisitive public knowing a random account number, without any name or other data: some people are paranoid, up to you really.
