Sandisk flash drive with U3

I just bought a sandisk flashdrive which has U3 software on it - all I know about U3 is that you can copy files and related programs so that you can run an application on another PC. Can someone please explain if I need to download anything to my PC and are there any licence fees which I may have to pay. Also, if I copy an excel spreadsheet, what do I need to do to copy the excel program as well or will this be copied automatically. I'd appreciate any advise.

The U3 drives are best though of as being little laptops without a screen or keyboard....
You install special U3 applications (see the U3 menu when you use the drive).
You can install Firefox on a U3 drive so that you leave no trace or history of your browsing on a PC.
You can get "open office" to install on the drive, so that you can edit office documents on any PC.
Just have a bit of a play, you'll soon figure it out

I believe that standard U3 flash drive arrives with some basic software installed, but NOT Excel. You can download further free U3 compatible software from sites such as http://software.u3.com/interstitial.aspx, but NOT Excel. Only software adapted or developed for U3 will work on the flash drive. There are more comprehensive U3 software available to be purchased, but still no Excel. This may change in future, though unlikely Excel will ever be free. There is a U3 version of "Open Office" that should cope with Excel files.0
