temping and JSA...

Hi peeps, just to let you know I have taken a temp job with an agency, resulting in my sigining off from JSA. What happens if I decide to resign from this job voluntarily?

Would I be able to claim JSA again, or not? I suspect I know the answer but if someone in the know could give me an answer that would be really grateful. Its just that the agency advertised a vacancy as something that its not.

Cheers.

I don't know if it applies to temp work but i know they sometimes dont give jsa to people who randomly quit their jobs. They can sanction you for up to 6 months. If you have a very, very good reason they may reconsider but there is a lot of form filling in etc.

I think that it all depends on what side of the bed the decision maker takes when leaving a temporary job voluntarily. I have left a temporary job voluntarily before and have had no sanctions and received normal JSA. If of course it was a permanent job you could be sanctioned from receiving JSA upto 26 weeks.

The fact that the position was temporary and could not be guaranteed to lead to permanent role plus the fact that the temporary job might only have lasted a short time may go in your favour with the so called decision maker.
If you did leave the temporary job voluntarily and you did reclaim for JSA you could also say that the position was not as the agency described and you were misled in to taking the job which is what you pointed out at the opening of your thread.
  • Thanks for the replies, Its not bad money but think I will stick it out for a bit. Dont really wanna go back on the dole!!!!
