Hi, I booked my summer 2010 holiday online with first choice 4 weeks ago. I happened to check their site tonight and noticed that the holiday I booked is now £300.00 cheaper (exact same package). This can't be right, if it is i'm gutted! I thought by booking early I would save money, not be ripped off.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your cancellation charge is less then £300 you could cancel and re-book at the new price to save some money (check everything is exactly the same as you booked).
I don't think there's much chance of them giving you back the difference out of the goodness of their hearts, just as they wouldn't ask you for more if the price had increased since you booked.0 -
Oh dear why did you look, you must have been happy with the price when you booked, didnt you track it for a few weeks to see if it was going up or down. I bet your deposit was £150pp so it wouldn't be worth cancelling. Sorry i don't think theres anything you can do but it will go up and sell out so at least you have got exactly what you wanted at a reasonable price.0

Holiday prices go up and down all the time. Would you ask to pay £300 more if the holiday price had increased? Here I go again on my own....0

Hi i have been researching this for some time with First Choice and it is normally best to book early in the morning, for instance i was looking at a luxury long haul holiday and i have seen it vary by £ 300 per person in the same DAY???0

I think part of the benefit of booking early is to ensure you get the resort, hotel, dates, flights of your choice.
Even though it's only 4 weeks since you booked, would you have been gutted if you wouldn't have got your choices NOW because it's booked up?
Prices do fluctuate because of supply and demand.
I tend to agree about booking if you're happy with the price and not looking again, but I do tend to keep looking.
The difference with me is that if it's gone up, I smile and if it goes down, it doesn't bother me because I was happy with the price that I booked at.
Just be pleased that you've got the holiday you wanted at a price you were happy to pay - and look forward to it.0 -
Thanks for all the advice. I booked early last year (with Thomas Cook) and the price went up over the course of the year, so I was expecting the same this year. I know prices can fluctuate as I spent a few weeks researching different resorts and different tour operators, it's just I've never known prices to drop like this. I spent so long trying to get the best price, thought I had it, and turns out I hadn't! Never mind it's another lesson learned!
I'm not telling Mr Susie, as he is even tighter than me.LOL0
