Even on eBay purchases they're not necessarily interested, either. They insist that everbody offers PayPal as an accepted method of payment in all their auctions, yet it is against their own rules for you to accept PayPal if somebody is collecting the goods from you. So when my friend took PayPal payment for his PS3 and the buyer collected it in person, then it subsequently turned out that he had paid using a hacked PayPal account, my friend ended up with no PS3 and no payment, either. PayPal simply weren't interested.
Thanks to all who post constructively.

No idea about this site but by my own recent experience Paypal offers you limited protection.
Clearly no-one can obtain your card details, but if you have a problem with the goods Paypal are simply not interested (they provide protection for ebay purchases but very very little outside ebay).
Payment by credit card does offer you more protection.Roger_Rampant wrote: »Even on eBay purchases they're not necessarily interested, either. I think you're both double dissecting and over scrutinising a non-issue here, I'm not going into the ins and outs of whether Paypal gives you protection against dodgy/faulty/substandard goods once received or even if not received either on or off eBay, the context was in direct response to if it's a 'scam', 'spam' or 'harvesting' website, your card details are secure if paying by Paypal, that's the context I used and intended, the substandard goods issue if received, is a separate issue I wasn't advocating Paypal for or indeed even commenting on, just the initial order and payment.
In short if it's a bargain with a hint of concern over the website validity, if Paypal is offered, I'd use it any time over inputting my card details - hope that clarifies to you both.

We were both talking about different points. Roger's was about seller protection, mine was purely about buyer protection.
Yes you cannot have your card details scammed but do stand to loose any and all money you spend should the seller prove less than honest.
My opinion differs from yours as I believe Paypal is simply not a good safety net.0 -

I was initially interested in this offer being a bit of a sucker for a makeup bargain but when I went through to the website it is !!!!!!!!!!!!. I hope all of those who ordered get their goods. There have been lots of bad reviews about this site. It seems to be a bit hit and miss if you get your order or not.0

Jeez, what is it with people always looking to slate on this forum, it looks like a genuine site, offering a free bag with free delivery on the purchase of some (my wife tells me) quality, reasonably priced Clinique products, they accept payment by Paypal which in my book is ultimate security for a buyer not having to give card details, so where is the scam, and where is NOT the potential 'grabbit' or bargain.
lighten up and give people a chance, if it's not for you - move on to the next offering
I was merely trying to prevent people from being scammed. Lighten up Gazwood, if my reply was not for you then move on to the next offering - instead of wasting your time being god.0 -

He he he, chill sweetheart, there's enough Gods on this forum without me confusing the issue
You should however be congratulated for your scam busting potential and given a multi-coloured Martin Lewis flowing scambuster cape :rotfl:0 -
I think maybe the site which is called b e a u t y p a r l o r has been banned from posting on here which is why when I put the website name in, it was replaced with !!!!! I think they spam a lot and also have ripped people off so do beware!0

Hi
I am going to buy a mattress from John Lewis, and as this is a fairly big purchase ie £800 plus, I was hoping there still are valid discount codes around. Do you have one?
The other option I am considering is to go through a cashback site, could you please recommend one? I know of sites such as Piggybank, Quidco, etc, which one would you choose?
Thanks a lot
Tom0
