Fair credit rating - turned down by NatWest

Hi All

Just discovered this brilliant forum.

I wondered if anyone had any information or tips, Natwest have turned me down for a credit card even though I've run my account well, on the electoral roll, lived in same place for 5 years etc. Every month I go in (and don't apply) and they suggest 'try next month', u ntil I finally made an application which was refused. Experian puts me at 790 in the fair category. I also understand the current climate (even tho we the taxpayers have been bailing them out!)

Are there any Credit Cards which are more likely to accept me without having to go to one of those 34% interest things? - Would it be worth opening a new current account and applying straight away?

Any ideas appreciated :-)
