Mercure hotel, Gatwick - has anyone parked there recently?

We used this place a couple of years ago when it was the Renaissance and the parking was fine - plenty of spaces, no need to park on the grass. However, we went back last September and there were cars parked everywhere! Literally every bit of space and grass was being used. We were showed to a parking space, between rows of cars, that wasn't much bigger than the car itself and impossible to get into because there was no manouevering space. We left it for the attendant to park.

So we are again looking for a hotel with parking. The hotel was fine and is coming up at £100 (including the parking) which I don't think is too bad a price. But I'm concerned at the parking. Last time we were there it was a company car so any damage not really an issue, but this time it's our own car.

Has anyone used this place recently and, if so, what was the parking like? Were we just really unlucky last time - maybe there were functions on or something?

Thanks in advance.

I stayed (and parked) there a few months ago before flying to Vegas. It was early June and the parking and service was fine. No problems what so ever.

Thank you AronS; that's reassuring. It's a tossup now between there and the Arora for an extra £9!!

  • No, but I did use the Hilton for £140 which includes 8 days parking in the long stay carpark. You get to walk through to the departures and on return the shuttle bus takes less than 5 mins. Hope this helps.
